cool, i have time to blog.

tommorow's the oral defence session for the HRP students, so ive been busy fine tuning my script. the oral presentation is supposed to last 5 minutes, but when i timed myself my script was somewhere around just breaking 3 minutes. after much deliberation i decided to throw in some of my research findings as well, and a juicy acknowledgement passage to play on the teachers' egos never hurts i guess :p

now its around 4 mins 10 seconds. i think ill fill up the remaining time with trying to speak BBC standard english. easier said then done though, ive never really scrutinised my diction thorough my life, and the word 'scientific' and 'science' is coming out so many times in my script its starting to become a tongue-twister. and theres always the chance ill forget some points.

since i talked about my HRP i guess i shall spend this post reflecting on it.

my HRP this year was only moderately good, definately a regression from last year. im still quite proud of the final content as i did put in alot of effort into researching it, as i did last year. 52.75/80 after -5 marks for lateness is quite satisfactory to me i guess.

still, i think i screwed it up. the time i spent on my projects was almost entirely diverted to my beloved DNA science without the DNA. all the time, my HRP was slowly rotting in some long-forgotten corner of my hard drive. i handed it up at the end of last terms sabbatical week, barely 3 weeks ago. no surprises on the lateness penalty there.

my sincerest apologies to kind old mrs wong who had to nag me for weeks on end and then speed mark my late submission in a short two weeks.

looking back, of course i know that i should have started the whole thing earlier. but i think i have this perfectionalist mentatility that seems to work out every time. When i have some major assignment thats missed the deadline by eons, when i finally sit down to do it id rather take even more time and produce a quality piece of work, rather than rush to finish it ASAP and compromise quality. if youre late, youre late, and it makes no difference whether youre very late or even later than that.

sad, i had a fighting chance for an overall IH A2. nevermind, learn from my mistakes i shall.

and god strike me dead should i ever write a literature review as a book review of my PRIMARY sources again.
