i finally worked up the courage to blog at a time other than the middle in the night, now that my family is stuck watching that seemingly never-ending chinese serial that keeps on introducing new plot elements and characters without taking the time to wram anything up. and the special effects are unrealistic to say the least, good grief.
schools been tiring but fun, and im finally with the sciences i love all day! physicsmathschemistrybiologyrepeatoverandoverincludingtheoddGP all week long. all ive ever dreamt of in high school. time to excel!
of course, the competition here is goddamned high. im literally surrounded with genii on all sides, including limwq and zhuyc just to mention a few. and a guy who pawned the whole room in todays nanotechnology talk by being the only one to know about wave-particle duality, quantum tunelling, particle-in-the-box theory and some other quantum mechanics whatsits i cant begin to describe. at least w-p duality and tunelling are easy enough to understand, but holy crap, he must have mugged. alot
not that thats a bad thing. mugging is good if you enjoy it. just make sure the social life doesnt suffer too much.
the nanotech talk was very interesting, in particular the applications of the scanning tunneling microscope and the atomic force microscope, and the carbon nanotubes. but what got me most was the device that could weigh stuff down to 10 zettograms. thats like 10^-20 grams. like 0.00000000000000000001 grams. whoa.
only bad things today were the ACSI people who attended the talk (or was it temasek?). brilliant of the teachers to send sec ones who barely know what an atom consists of, let alone quantum physics, and then let them yak it up and disturb others to entertain themselves. a stroke of genius.
and the talk made me 1 1/2 hour late for gefang. in fact i think delayed arrivals for gefang are going to become a commodity on monday due to STP enrichment.
