it is really once in a blue moon that i get a quiet night to sit down and do some blogging.
well, O1 has been going on for the past few days, and i must say it really rocks the world! an already great school has been introduced to us in such a great way, and as we all know, first impressions count for alot.
many areas deserve much further elaboration, so i shall.
talks and lectures - would probably be the first things to be cancelled if things went by popular demand. you cant fault the administration though, they are just doing their best in helping us make informed choices regarding subject combinations. mr ang our principal deserves some sympathy too, as he is the representive of the school and thus can only propagate the schools politically correct views on issues, not bring in his personal views and experiences, which would be much more entertaining. best talks were the ones by deputy principal mr chow and the one about school history. the multitude of personal experiences included by the speakers certainly made the talks more engaging. high school side teachers attempting to teach school history ought to take a leaf out of their book.
OG - orientation group 38 wasnt the best of groups, but still not iredeemable. one of our OGLs was constantly off on his other duties (games IC), leaving us with soong jun, a nice guy but not really good at hyping people up. we won a majority of the games we played together, but its like we still haven’t really bonded together or something. The high school guys and ny girls stick to their own cliques. being an ex-councillor, I naturally got the job of doing all the cheerleading. thank god they cooperated. dinner on friday was fun, but it starting to seem as if im going to have to get used to these come-home-at-9-pm+ nights gah
CT group - STP class = JC version of GEP class??? well the people here are that type, nice but quiet and not jovial and enthu like the other people. and tons of PRC scholars as well. on the bright side, lots of people i know are here with me, including wen jun, songbo and honbx, and im starting to get to know the rest quite quickly. dunno why helen seems to be so separatist. too early for me to make a judgement on CT mr sam lee, but i guess hes probably like mr foo: normally nice but icy cold when crossed. now its my personal mission to bring this class together and make it more enthu, though it will certainly have to come at a cost of being damn thickskinned and crazily doing embarassing stuff like screaming and cheering solo :S
faculty - i used to wish i was in apollo, but ive gotten over it, and thats just coz' ARTEMIS ROCKS SO DAMN HARD! all will phear the dolphin from now on!
dance session - easy dances, but the cramped hall holding an entire batch of students, and the few pairs of councillors demonstrating compared to the legions of juniors learning multiply the hardness of the teaching process many times. not to mention time constraints. wild will west and artemis dances are the only ones worth learning, i think. but someone please let me watch apollos and athenas dances, heard they are quite good as well
song session - bleargh my chinese sucks. and the english school song is like some english 'god save the queen' kind of song. the cheif reason i am henceforth relinquishing my position as assembly pianist.
cheer session - for old hands like me, quite a free and easy session that gets the spirits up in no time.
games - omg war games is total ownage, so much that words cant describe it. seeing apollo getting gangbanged on all sides is just so damn funny. im still dumbfounded as to how athena won though, since artemis did not collect any water on the bottle at all. other games were less exciting but still fun. i discovered im not that bad at frisbee after all. and yip kangs street fighter match was just classic. not only did he manage to disarm his opponent by breaking her waterbomb in her hand with his stick, he even managed to follow up with a headshot on her with his own waterbomb, ALL WHILE BLINDFOLDED. lol
councillors - i reallly think that they have done a super good job on orientation. against all the odds they orchestrated the metamorphasis of one of the most cynical and pragmatic batches ive seen into the most spirited people ever. one more reason to join them later this year.
much more still waits to be said, but further deprivation of sleep will only result in inattentiveness in tomorrows lectures. so, tata!
