haha, i think i over-romanticised the process of doing flash websites in my last post. after all the intellectual stimulation in designing the actionscript framework, you have to repeatedly apply the same script over and over again to every section of the website there is.
now this isnt usually a tall order. but i just had to position ~160 council nominee photos nicely inside, script them (thank god not individually or i would just die), add the name, class, campaign group which involves cross-referencing with the database hundreds of times. and before that i was manually resizing the same no of photos in photoshop. its like open everything, then "resize, ctrl+s, ctrl+f4" over and over ad infinitum.
a bit noob!
anyway, im DONE. its out of my hair, save the occational edit ill have to make due to mistakes/people withdrawing/whatever. no more boring repetitive work!
University textbooks and online material seriously >> lecture notes when studying a subject. take the ionic eqb notes for example. i missed the lessons on it due to O1, but still couldnt get some parts even though the topic was taught in january. then i picked up my university chem text and selftaught myself to high competency in like half a day. the organic chem book i WON (haha) from mr lee also looks far more colourful and appetising than the lecture notes. i can barely remember my alchohol and organic acid/acid chloride reactions, but the carbonyl reactions are like permanently stuck in my head after reading the textbook. and those reactions are like very obscure out-of-syllabus ones like grigand and organometallic reagents and wierd catalysts and whatnot.
i feel so fortunate to have such easy access to such resources. half my bedside table's surface area is taken up by them. lol, literally within arm's reach.
block tests are next week! my marks in BT2 will probably pwn my BT1 marks. not that im not going to get good results for BT1 but having to take care of all online aspects of the council elections is on the opposite end of the spectrum of having the entire june to study with no more CCA to worry about.
